Overview of Camera Tripod

Camera Tripod is essential accessory if you are very serious about photography. They are bulky to carry but tripods are used to prevent camera shake while doing photography.

 

It has the name tripod as the equipment has three legs.

 

Tripods are mainly used in capturing nature shots and macro photography where there is a need to capture the picture as clear as possible but tripod use is not limited to these particular photography’s.

 

The important factors while purchasing a tripod are”

1. It should withstand the weight of camera and extras which include lens and flash.

2. It should have good stability; this can be checked by adjusting the tripod legs in variable heights. Check whether parts of tripod are tightly fixed.

3. Check adjustable maximum and minimum heights, whether these heights are helpful to your photography or not.

4. Try to avoid purchasing plastic tripods, as they are cheap and lightweight. A heavy tripod is stable one because it has to hold the weight of your camera.

 

The head is one of the important parts of the tripod, which attaches the camera to the tripod. 

Tripod heads is of two types, Pan Head, Ball Head.

 

In Pan Head, it has provided with movements of left, right, top and bottom. It doesn’t have fluid movements. They are cheaper than Ball Head.

 

In Ball Head, it is sensitive to fluid movements. The camera in Ball Head is easier to handle than in Pan Head.

 

While selecting a camera tripod, always check for the head.
